Not worth the effort.
Just a note: I believe games should have a different rating system than the current one, so I'll be reviewing this in game-specific categories.
Graphics [7]: I'm rather impressed with the animation of Strawberry and many of the objects in the game. The animation of the Mutant Peggy was totally awesome.
Sound [5]: The level music is ripped and repetitive. The sounds are ripped from classic games, and if they didn't vary in volume, they would be bearable. STMB for the boss music worked nicely, though it's incorrectly credited to DDR/Konami/Bemani. It is in DDR, but the artist is JS-16, or Jaakko Salavaara.
Story [1]: Strawberry is hunting for Peggeys. Why? We may never know. It's just a reason to make a sidescroller, and it falls flat.
Play Control [5]: After a few minutes of dying, controlling Strawberry is a breeze, as least on Easy Mode. Hard Mode limits what you can do with Strawberry, and seems more like poor original programming -- turning a bug into a "feature". Other than that, it's fine, except for the piss-poor hit detection on the accelerating platforms at the end.
Replay Value [0]: Up until now, my review has been fairly positive, but here comes the shitter: I NEVER WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME AGAIN. First of all, there is only ONE LEVEL and it's friggin' hard. Basically, you learn what buttons you need to push throughout the level and you hope to god you don't make one small fuckup. Yes, one hit and you lose. Countless times I ran into the line of fire of the shooting clock because I didn't run or slow down at the exact time. Countless times I would slip up or fall victim to a programming problem and have to start all over at the beginning of the level. ...and since there's only one insanely hard level, which will waste a good amount of your time, playing the game a second time is like visiting Hell a second time. The boss is the most enjoyable part of the game, though it's not worth the effort to get to it. Also, grabbing all the Peggeys is pointless, as it doesn't affect the outcome of the game.
Overall [4]: Just like any new experience, I found it amusing--until it felt like it was work instead of a game.
This could've been so much better.
